Steve, Cathy, and Nicholas -- Nicholas gets his second running medal (created 2011-11-26)

Nicholas and I ran our fourth official race this year: the Ward Parkway Thanksgiving Day 5K Run/Walk (The first three races were Running With The Cows in May, the Leawood Labor Day 5K run in September, and the Blue Valley Recreation Strut for the Streaks 5K Run/Walk in October). It was a huge event with over 1200 runners/walkers My sister-in-law, Elizabeth, and my niece, Gabriella also participated.

I finished in 38 minutes. It's slightly better than my previous race, but unlike that race where I took first in my age group, I was 27th here. This race had well over 1200 runners and walkers, so the competition was tougher.

Nicholas finished in 32 minutes. It was a bit slower than his previous run, but still good enough to earn third place in his age group (male 0-9 year olds). Elizabeth and Gabriella were doing a mixture of walking and running and finished in about 45 and 55 minutes, respectively. The official times have not been posted yet. I have a map of this run on my running log.

Here's a picture of the runners after the race. Nicholas is wearing his medal as well as new football gloves and a new football that he had gotten at Dick's Sporting Goods the previous day.
