P.Mean: Quote on anti-intellectualism (created 2008-08-08).

This page is moving to a new website.

I want to write an article about the growing mistrust of experts in our society. A working title is "The Rising Tide of Anti-Intellectualism." Here's a quote that might be worth starting out with.

"Mr. Bush is the triumph of the seemingly average American man. He’s not an intellectual. Intellectuals start all the trouble in the world." Peggy Noonan, quoted in a Wall Street Journal article in 2004. This quote was cited by Paul Krugman in a New York Times column (Know Nothing Politics, New York Times, August 7, 2008, www.nytimes.com/2008/08/08/opinion/08krugman.html
