P.Mean: Monthly Mean newsletter (created 2008-10-09).
Welcome to the Monthly Mean newsletter, the newsletter that dares to call itself "average." This newsletter, distributed by email, has a variety of interesting articles on statistics, evidence based medicine, research design, and the ethical conduct of research. I include recommendations for interesting journal articles, websites, and books in each newsletter. Although I call it the Monthly Mean, the actual schedule of publishing is a bit more relaxed. You will never get anything more frequent than once a month (I hate email overload as much as you do), but during busy times it may appear every other month.
The latest issue, [The Monthly Mean] July 2010--My sample size is too small, but that's okay because it is a pilot study (released 2010-07-08), is now available. Earlier issues can be found on the archive page.
Why do I do this for free? I do this because it is fun, and to build up goodwill and publicity for my consulting business. I also offer free webinars (web seminars) about statistics, for the same reasons.
When does the Monthly Mean come out? My busy lifestyle and lack of organization prevents me from sending out this newsletter on a consistent time schedule. My goal is to try to send out the newsletter no more often than once a month. During busy times, I will send out a newsletter every other month.
How do I sign up? You can sign up for the newsletter here. Your subscription is being managed by a professional service, iContact, so you can be assured that your privacy is being protected and that you can remove yourself from the list of subscribers at any time without any hassles.
To subscribe, fill out the form below. Your email address is the only requirement; your first and last name are optional.
If you want to be removed from the distribution list, just click on the link at the bottom of any newsletter. If you are having trouble getting removed, send me an email at .
Where are all the newsletters? The most recent newsletter was released on 2010-03-27. Earlier issues are available on the archive page. You can also peek at an early draft of the next newsletter as it is being developed. I also have page where I "park" items for future newsletters. This is for my benefit, but you can take a peek if you like.
